Quick Scan

Most often, you will find girls standing at street crossings and exits. So whenever you suspect that a road could be lined with prostitutes, move the Street View marker from crossing to crossing for a quick scan.

Look Back!

Always look 360 degree around you. Sometimes, the lanes or recording times change – you could be missing spottings without even knowing they were there.

Spiral Search

Another quick scan technique. Move the “pegman” in spirals from street to street to find roads that are suitable for street prostitution.

Parallel Streets

We’ve found many valuable spottings in Italy on small sideroads along the national highways.

Straight Roads are bad!

Totally straight roads often have a railing. The traffic speed on those roads is high. The probability of finding street prostitutes on such roads is lower.

Green is good!

Lots of bushes and trees along roads give the sex workers and their customers shadow privacy. If the police comes along, they can just slip into the bushes and be out of sight.

Check both Lanes

Sometimes the Street View cars drive both lanes of a street. So always check to see if there is another lane available. Some recent discoveries in the Bois de Boulogne, a naughty park in Paris, were discovered this way.

Industrial Areas

Not all industrial areas are crawling with hookers. Often, the streets are either too busy or too narrow – or both. But if you find a hooker, you can be sure that there are others in the area. Madrid’s famous Zona Industrial de Villaverde is the best example of a very busy red light district.

Where there’s trucks, there’s hookers

I am not saying that (all) the truck drivers use the services of prostitutes. The poor guys are not paid very well and have neither the time nor the place to pick up prostitutes during their work hours. Still, if the road is big enough for trucks, then there’s a probability that you will find hookers along the road. Most trucks avoid paying the road toll, which means they will drive on roads parallel to the big highways. There is usually a lot of traffic on those roads. And traffic will be slower, as well. Add some trees along the road for shadow and privacy, and you have a place for sex workers to do their job…

Research your spottings

There are countless of forums, blogs and other websites which list red light districts and places for street prostitution. Finding something new is as easy as typing in “Privéhuis” into Google Maps.

Country-specific differences

Make yourself familiar with the country-specific differences in street prostitution. In France, the prostitutes operate out of (often white) vans. This type of prostitution is so common in France that every van you see parked near the street could be a mobile brothel (BMC). In Italy, you will find women along the countryroads and in the industrial zones. In Mexico, the street hookers stand in long lines on the sidewalk of the most frequented roads in the Mexican cities.
